Abstract

The article is devoted to the evolution of the administration of judgment system, in particular, the development of criminal procedure in Japan since the earliest period when the judgment system was in the cradle. The Japanese criminal procedure under Shogun and changes after the Meiji Restoration are outlined. The article also features one and half party electoral system and electoral reform in Japan. A special attention is paid to the main directions of the judgment system reform of recent years, Japan Legal Support Center activity and the introduction of people assessor system into criminal procedure in Japan.
